From the simplicity of the Revo bed to the design tour-de-force that is the Novello desk, the name Alexander Miles has become synonymous with elegance, function and modern styling while retaining traditional values and ethics, taking pride in upholding standards that reflect the quality of the products.

Alexander Miles grew up around his father’s antique business, and demonstrated an appreciation for fine hand-made furniture at an early age. On leaving school he pursued a degree in Surveying before becoming interested in furniture design and in particular, the restoration of antique pieces.

Recognising the potential of, and consumer desire for high-quality, British, hand-made furniture, and armed with a portfolio of unique designs and a boundless passion and enthusiasm, Alex took the first steps towards realising his own ideas; a decade later, Alexander Miles is established as one of the country’s leading designers of contemporary, bespoke furniture, benefiting from teams of dedicated and highly skilled craftsmen capable of accurately interpreting and recreating the most complex design ideas, a stylish West London showroom, and a portfolio that has expanded into the superlative ranges available today.

As we gain a more aesthetic appreciation of and greater relationship with our personal possessions, an increasing number of discerning homeowners are seeking to furnish their interiors with beautifully-made bespoke units that specifically suit their needs, lifestyles and home environments.

The Alexander Miles bespoke design service provides the option of taking any piece from the existing collections and tailoring it to alternative specifications by, for example, adding extra drawers, changing the dimensions, or simply sourcing an alternative finish, to the planning and realisation of a wholly new design.

Beginning with the initial consultation and specification, each piece is planned with passion, enthusiasm and consideration of the requirements and personal desires of the customer. The bespoke design service encourages interior solutions where other options are simply not viable or desirable, and allows the maximising of the potential of a space while achieving the desired look and functionality of the piece.

For more extensive projects, we are happy to arrange a site visit by one of our highly-skilled cabinetmakers to take exact measurements of the area for fitment and discuss in person any particular design considerations you may have.

Promoting the British tradition of craftsmanship and quality is something that Alexander Miles has always taken great pride in. As a result of this, all our products are made right here in the United Kingdom. Our workshops, located on the borders of England and Wales, house teams of dedicated and highly skilled cabinet-makers that ensure that each item fulfils stringent quality controls at each stage of production and lives up to the expectations of our customers. Combining time-honoured techniques and the skills of each expert craftsman, each piece is created with an integrity and excellence that inspires confidence and trust.

From the traditional processes of cabinet-making and upholstering to the industrial methods of steel-working, each piece is created with the care and attention that only hand-crafting can provide. Our wooden furniture is hand-sprayed to a lightly-lacquered finish, while stainless steel components are hand polished; upholstered furniture is hand assembled, with mattresses hand-stitched for added durability.

From the cool modernity of stainless steel and glass to the traditional warmth of natural wood, the Alexander Miles contemporary collection is a skilful blend of beauty and functionality. We apply strict quality controls to ensure that only the finest materials are selected.

Each piece of timber is chosen for strength, colour and grain; wood veneers are book-matched to ensure continuity and symmetry while metals are examined for cleanliness, integrity and suitability for each particular product.

As our designs have evolved over time, so has our use of new and alternative materials. In early 2001 we launched the striking Glass and Steel and Glass and Acrylic beds, with 2006 seeing the launch of the Novello range, which marked a move towards the creation of iconic furniture that captures the essence of modern living.

Combining the natural, rich warmth of walnut with the industrial strength and coolness of stainless steel and glass, the desk captures the essence of form and function while displaying a unique geometry and contemporariness.

Alexander Miles’ furniture is designed and created to stand-up to the rigours of every-day use, with design features such as soft-close drawer-runners and push-catches used to retail the elegance and luxury feel and appearance of each piece. Such thoughtful finishing-touches, combined with a collection of contemporary and ergonomic designs that exude an understated and lasting sense of style, Alexander Miles offers the complete interior solution.
